LOOK BOTH WAYS

Look Both Ways endeavors to see the world through multiple perspectives at once. Four cameras attached to the body track movement down streets, over bridges, between crowds and through corridors. The presentation of the recordings is structured like an open box, with the centre square missing. The result is a highly shattered yet framed view of the world, where both typography, people, city surfaces and light are displaced from their natural habitat and structured as a comparison kit.

The absence of the centre monitor represents the missing body or the displaced body, opened and susceptible to its environment. The effect of seeing outward and away from the body in this fragmentary method allows for a sense of audience interaction, where the missing piece becomes the link to all pieces, the space where the spectator can move between and connect these physical frames of the world. The space between these fragments of the body become essential as the basis for exploring empty space, the place where occupancy is not, or the seemingly invisible glue (the body) that binds these views together.
